Jazz

Our Jazz program develops strong technique, style, and performance quality for dancers of all levels. Students build flexibility, strength, coordination, and control while learning turns, leaps, isolations, and dynamic choreography. As dancers progress, they are challenged with increasingly complex skills and combinations, helping them become confident, versatile performers.

  • Intro to Jazz

    This fun and imaginative class introduces young dancers to the basics of jazz dance in a positive and supportive environment. Students will explore rhythm, coordination, and musicality through age-appropriate movement, including simple jazz steps, stretches, and beginner across-the-floor exercises. Dancers will also learn short, engaging combinations that help build confidence, listening skills, and a love of dance while developing a strong foundation for future training.

    Female Attire: Any leotard of choice, black leggings or fitness pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back.

    Male Attire: white fitted t-shirt, black shorts or bottoms of choice, black jazz shoes

  • Jazz 1

    Ages: 7–10

    Jazz 1 focuses on building strong jazz fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment. Dancers will learn essential skills such as jazz walks, basic turns, leaps, body alignment, balance, and level-appropriate dance terminology. Classes include across-the-floor progressions and engaging combinations that help dancers develop coordination, strength, and musicality while allowing their personality and performance quality to shine.

    Female Attire: Any leotard of choice, black leggings or fitness pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back.

    Male Attire: white fitted t-shirt, black shorts or bottoms of choice, black jazz shoes

  • Jazz 2

    Ages: 9-12

    Jazz 2 is designed for beginner to intermediate dancers with at least one year of jazz experience. Dancers will continue to build upon foundational technique while progressing in jazz vocabulary, terminology, and proper technical alignment. Classes focus on developing flexibility, strength, coordination, and control through across-the-floor progressions and choreography. Students will also gain confidence and performance quality as they grow within the style.

    Prerequisites: 1 year jazz or approval from studio

    Female Attire: Any leotard of choice, black leggings or fitness pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back.

    Male Attire: white fitted t-shirt, black shorts or bottoms of choice, black jazz shoes

  • Jazz 3

    Ages: 12-18

    Jazz class for the intermediate dancer with at least two years of jazz experience. Dancers will progress in learning jazz dance steps, terminology, and proper technical alignment while developing flexibility, strength, skills, and confidence within the style.

    Prerequisites: Jazz I and 2

    Female Attire: Any leotard of choice, black leggings or fitness pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back.

    Male Attire: white fitted t-shirt, black shorts or bottoms of choice, black jazz shoes

  • Jazz 4

    Jazz 4 is an advanced-level class designed for experienced dancers with a strong technical foundation in jazz. This class focuses on refining technique, precision, strength, flexibility, and performance quality through challenging across-the-floor progressions and complex choreography. Dancers will work on advanced turns, leaps, extensions, and stylistic nuances while developing artistry, musicality, and dynamic stage presence. Emphasis is placed on clean execution, consistency, and elevated performance skills.

    Female Attire: Any leotard of choice, black leggings or fitness pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back.

    Male Attire: white fitted t-shirt, black shorts or bottoms of choice, black jazz shoes

    Prerequisites: studio approval

    Duration: 1 hour

  • Turns and Leaps

    Ages: 11-18

    A high-energy technique class focused on improving turns and leaps through proper alignment, spotting, and controlled execution. Dancers will break down technique step by step while building strength, balance, and endurance.

    Class includes targeted conditioning to develop core stability, leg strength, and power for higher, more controlled jumps and multiple rotations. Individual corrections help each dancer improve precision and confidence.

    Dancers will build stronger technique, greater control, and increased confidence in their turns and leaps. This class is an excellent supplement to jazz training and helps dancers refine the technical skills needed for success in jazz choreography.

    Attire: Dance attire such as a leotard with black leggings over it or crop top and dance shorts-hair secured and jazz shoes.

  • Teen Jazz

    This Intermediate level jazz class for older students is designed for middle and high school dancers. It is a fast-paced jazz class focuses on the technique and performance skills needed for school dance teams. Dancers will quickly progress through curriculum that develops turns, leaps, kicks, flexibility, musicality, and performance quality while building strength and confidence.

    Perfect for dancers on their school dance team, preparing for dance team tryouts or looking to take their jazz technique to the next level.

    Attire: any dance wear of your choice, no baggy clothes or t-shrts, no baggy shorts. Jazz shoes or bare feet.
